When the River Teaches, the Screens Fade Away: The Inme Tons Story

"In the valleys of the Tons River, a group of students discovered something no algorithm can deliver — themselves."

There is a magic that a river holds, a magic that fades away things, a magic that fades away the obsession of screens. I have seen the Tons River magically fading the world of screens in the minds of the people who dare to ride on its beautiful waves. They learn, experiment, but most importantly; they feel life as it is and not on a screen.

I saw a group of students who were all perfect at first finally showing up who they really are from beneath because the tons river and its adventures didn’t care about their perfect digital presence but rather what they truly are without the filters and screens, the river brought out their true self.

I was just an observer there and I observed Inme rafts, children on top of them riding the river waves knowing that this time they will have to complete the journey, this time; there won’t be a button to switch off anything!

These students don’t seem ordinary to me but rather they were special, at least something in their eyes was; so, they got served with something extraordinary too: Mountain Biking!

Some got scared of the mountain biking so their Inme Summer Camps’ instructors gave them an introduction to cycling, everyone got something and that’s great!

 I heard somewhere that:

“Life is just a sentence between two full stops, and the words comprising it define how wonderous and beautiful the sentence is!”

I believe this adventure at the Inme Tons River Camp will be if not the best, a great word in these student’s sentence and to add more beauty to the words I saw something more wonderful:

I saw them doing backpacking and visiting the local villages, how new it must have been for many of them? Were they delighted by the Earth’s beauty or were they feeling free because they were no skyscrapers to block the beautiful sunshine…

Wish I could ask them, maybe their parents will when they return to their home!

How wonderous it must be for a parent listening to their child talking non stop about a river, a village they never saw before. Hearing the stories about them being scared at first then finally enjoying, from worrying to finally turning into a person who’s looking for more adventure now.

There’s a child that I see; cheerful and happy, trying to talk to a kid who is a bit quiet. These kids are definitely trying to make this world a better place in their close circles and maybe this Inme Experiential learning camp, the Tons River and their rafts will help them in this journey.

I honestly love chat GPT, maybe these kids do too…. Who knows? But the one question it can’t answer for these kids is, “Are my hands stronger than these waves?”

Maybe this experience will give them the answer for this!!
